International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) shoots take place alternating First Saturdays/Sundays of the month, weather permitting (please see bottom of this page for 2012 schedule). Defensive pistol shooting as a sport is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world: self-defense scenarios. Shooters are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self defense use. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in defensive pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his or her equipment or gamesmanship.
IDPA is a sport growing in popularity in our area. The structure and rules create an even playing field for shooters of all abilities, new or veteran, revolvers or semi-automatics, male or female - it is just plain fun! Regular shoots include anywhere from 4 - 6 stages and often include both pistols and shotguns.
Safety rules and practices are STRICTLY enforced. Shooters will only have their gun out of their holster or ammo in their gun when instructed to do so by trained and qualified safety officers on the firing line. Anyone not following the safety rules or commands of the safety officers will be without question escorted off the property and asked not to return.
Safety briefings start at 9:00 and stage shooting starts immediately following.
Fees: Members = $10.00 per person
Guests/Visitors = $15.00 per person
